The invitation-only event will immediately precede AusBiotech 2009, and will provide an opportunity for investors to get acquainted with the 'cream' of Australasia's vibrant life science industry. Welcome reception – will be hosted by the Governor of Victoria, Professor David de Kretser at Government House. BioIndustry Exhibition – where more than 190 exhibitors will promote their businesses and products in a professionally presented and marketed exhibition display area. This area is also the venue for all network functions and event catering, such as morning/afternoon teas and lunches. Business Matching Program – giving delegates the opportunity to update their company profile in the biopartnering system and request appointments with other delegates/company representatives attending the event in a meeting room atmosphere on a half-hour or hourly basis. Nominations were invited in two categories: Outstanding contribution by an individual member • Outstanding contribution by an individual within a company • Past winners include the Hon Peter Beattie, ex-Premier of Queensland, John Brumby when he was the Minister for Innovation, and was last year awarded to Drs Carrie Hillyard of CM Capital and Ian Edwards of Edstar Genetics. Nancy Millis Oration Thursday 29 October, 9.00am – 11.00am The Nancy Millis Oration, this year sponsored by CSL and to be given by Megan Clark, the CEO of CSIRO, was named in honour of Emeritus Professor Nancy Millis AC, whose contribution to biotechnology was vast. The Hon Peter Beattie, past winner of the AusBiotech 2009 Chairman's Excellence Awards.
